About the Project
The commercial airline apron expansion project is located at the Gainesville Regional Airport in Gainesville, FL. The scope included the enlargement of the existing apron by almost 2 acres allowing a larger space for aircraft to taxi in and out of the terminal area. New taxi way lighting, high mast apron lighting, new fencing, and roadway modifications were also incorporated into the project. The apron itself consisted of two parts which included 20 pours totaling approximately 4,200 cubic yards of concrete.
Unique challenges were working within the restricted commercial terminal area at all hours of the day including a 6-week period of nighttime concrete work. The project was completed eight days early and within budget.
