UF Health and YMCA

We recently completed the renovation of the UF Health Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Clinic and YMCA Wildlight.

The University of Florida’s many healthcare resources are a Florida staple, providing patient care, education, and health research. The UF Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Clinic goes a step further to ensure a healthy, safe community of individuals who are receiving the help they need, with resources that meet their specific requirements. This clinic, merged with the YMCA Wildlight facility, provides 37,500,00 square feet of comprehensive wellness to Yulee residents and an example of health excellence for the community at large.

Scherer Construction of North Florida was prepared to take on the $11M facility that these two businesses required. Part of this was creating the spatial flow and amenities that each organization needed — a clean, spacious lobby with offices for the clinic and open exercise areas, an indoor track, and plenty of outdoor space for the YMCA. This project also included a 1,000 linear foot trail that consisted of compacted crushed granite (suitable for ADA accessibility). The facility was designed to match Wildlight’s “Florida Lowcountry” model, where work and play come together with nature to create a diverse, fulfilling lifestyle.

Finished in October of 2020, the UF Health Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Clinic and YMCA Wildlight is an exciting addition to life in Yulee. Scherer is thrilled to have played a pivotal role in bringing this facility to completion.
